In 2015 I was arrested & subsequently sentenced to 9-year confinement for a first-degree drug felony. After becoming eligible for parole, I was released in 2019. I quickly relapsed & soon after, I found out I was pregnant. While completing my aftercare programs, I developed a close bond with my fellow peers at Alpha & especially Winner’s Circle. Being surrounded by individuals who can relate to me in other aspects was such a huge benefit. Because of these programs, I never had to face any of the challenges that come with recovery alone. I had support from others who had been where I was, tried what I was thinking, & knew what the outcome would be. Winner’s Circle provided me with the resources necessary for successful reintegration. Without this program, I surely would have been another victim of recidivism. Instead, I am a full-time student, employee, and best of all, a sober and active parent. I will forever be grateful for the love, support, & inspiration I encountered in my time as a Winner’s Circle attendee. So much so, that I am now a full-time volunteer at Concho Valley Turning Point. I am a living testimony of how this program can not only change but improve the lives of those who earnestly participate. Winner’s Circle has so much to offer not only attendees but families & the community as a whole. Newly released individuals are celebrated for accomplishing everyday tasks, in a pro-social manner. Through Winner’s Circle resources & partners, attendees are able to obtain employment, housing, food, counseling, and so many other necessities. This program is focused on building confidence in the attendees so that they continue to make positive choices that lead to a better quality of life. Personally, I can not say enough good things about Winner’s Circle.
